PIECE AFTER PIECE

You who deliver your body

Piece by piece

Your knife wounds, tears

And makes of fragments

Frontiers and flags..

You who cram and curve

In a snail calling it life

Moving there to form your limbs,

How little you are, how small are your dreams!

A man the size of a sperm

But not a sperm to be a man..

All eyes, all microscopes

Are tired to know your identity,

To infer wisdom out of your secrets..

The world of miniature is your passion

In secrets you find your protection,

In alien forts your defence..

You who form your tiny limbs

In the dimension of a snail

Ungrateful to the nervous net,

To all that unite you,

To the brain that plans

To the cells which vitalize

To the heart giving the force

To the blood running its course

To the skin, the muscles

The body you've been a part

Thousands of years..

Cram and isolate

You'll never be more

Than a malignant tumour

Healed by the instinct of recovery

The strength of the pulse

The nature of things

And the tremble of earthquake
